US WW2 T5 Camouflaged Parachute, Operation Market Garden

SOLD

A great and historic piece, an original US WW2 T5 camouflaged parachute straight from DZ/T Groesbeek, Holland. This DZ was used by the 82nd Airborne Division the 508th PIR and 2nd battalion of the 505th PIR on September 17 1944 during operation Market Garden. This particulate parachute was found in the late 80s / early 90s on this drop zone and is still in a great condition. It does miss a few lower panels and is complete for two-thirds to 80%. It have some rips and tears from barb wire and the battles that took place along the Wylerbaan road were DZ/T was situated. A nice detail is that it has different campouflage patterns, which indicate previous use on DDAY Normandy and was repaired afterwards. The date panel isn’t there anymore but this would most likely be a 1943 dated parachute. A historic and scarce piece straight from the Market Garden battle field!
