Canadian Named 3rd Infantry Division Battle Dress, “J.G. Raycroft”

An original and identified Canadian WW2 Battle Dress blouse to John G. Raycroft of the 13th Field Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery, part of the famous 3rd Canadian Infantry Division which took part in the liberation of the Netherlands.
The blouse is a 1944 dated example and retains its original wartime applied “13 RCA” shoulder title together with the “CANADA” title. Interestingly, the blouse features a period applied plaid winter lining, most likely added during the harsh winter campaigns in Northwest Europe for extra warmth and comfort. The wear and aging to the lining perfectly matches the interior wear of the jacket, showing long term wartime use.
The name “J.G. Raycroft” is clearly written inside the lining. John G. Raycroft later published the memoir “A Signal War: A Canadian Soldier’s Memoir of the Liberation of the Netherlands”, documenting his wartime experiences during the liberation campaign in the Netherlands.
