A very nice and complete British officers Map Case with all original contents. This WWI pattern officers map case is named after “J.A. Chaplin” who belonged to the 79th (Hertfordshire Yeomanry) Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment, Royal Artillery. The 79th (Hertfordshire Yeomanry) Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment was formed early and took part in Operation Torch in 1943. Interesting to note is that officer J.A. Chaplin made a career and later (1953 – 1955) became Lt-Col commanding officer of this unit. This map case has markings on the celluloid windows reverend to an Operation unknown to me. A very interesting and complete mape case named to a British officer.
